Bedford Husband, Father Needs Neighbors’ Support to Survive Leukemia
Residents encouraged to join National Marrow Donor Program® Registry at local Bone

WHAT: Bob Johnson, Bedford resident and husband of 40 years, father of three and
grandfather of six, loves spending time with his family, singing in his church choir, playing
cards, and being an all around
handyman. But recently Bob was diagnosed with leukemia and needs a bone marrow
transplant to survive.
WHEN: On Saturday, December 13th, the Johnson family is hosting a drive to raise
awareness about the need for marrow donors.
“We hope to add as many people as possible to increase the chances that my dad – and
patients like him – has a better chance at finding a life-saving match,” says Jen Parkhurst,
Bob’s daughter.
Volunteers can join the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry between 10 a.m.
and 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Hampshire Hills in Milford, N.H., using a non-
invasive cheek swab.

The procedure to be tested is simple. I believe it’s a simple mouth swab. I have been on the registry for over 15 years now. I would l
