Hooking With Pam Anfuso

September 29, 2008

During the Pumpkin Festival we will be hosting a Rug Hooking Demonstration by Pam Anfuso.   The demonstration will take place at the studio.  Date and time to be determined.
Pam Anfuso is a good friend of mine and has been hooking for years.  I have to tell you a little story about when I first met Pam.  My daughter Sidney and Pam’s daughter Felicia became friends on the school bus.  Pam stopped by to introduce herself to me.  It was so nice to finally know someone in the neighborhood.  When Pam and Felicia were here, Pam started talking about an upcoming girls weekend that she was attending.  It was a hooking weekend, Pam was a hooker.  I stood there completely dumbfounded that she was a hooker and even moreso that she was so open about it.   I’m not really sure how the rest of the conversation went because I was too busy trying to imagine why this woman I just met felt so compelled to tell me that she was a hooker.  I did catch on at one point that she mentioned a rug she hooked!
The lightbulb went on……Pam is not the kind of HOOKER that I thought she meant, Pam was a RUG HOOKER!!!!

When I finally confided in Pam as to what I thought she was saying, we had a good laugh!  She then proceeded to tell me abou the day she was dyeing wool.  Pam had told the kids no friends over because she was dyeing wool.  Well, one of the kids got a call and they told their friend that they could not come over because their mother was DYEING!  The child on the other end of the phone was hysterical, how on earth could she be dying!  Took a few minutes to calm everyone down and realize that Pam was dyeing, and not dieing!

So watch for the update with a schedule of when Pam will be demonstrating.  She is a doll and wonderful teacher.  I’m sure you will love her demonstration.

Reflecting…..

September 12, 2008

September 11, 2001 is a day that none of will ever forget.  September 11, 2001 is a day that caused many of us to stop dead in our tracks, and realize that our world will forever be changed.

I remember sitting on my bed, watching tv news break when the first plane hit the tower.  As the newscaster was talking and showing a live feed, all you could see was a second plane hitting the towers.  I remember jumping to my feet and gasping.  How does this happen, how could this be?  The tears just started to flow.

Scott was at a training meeting all day and I just remember trying to dial his phone and of course you couldn’t get through.  All the lines were busy and the access was slim to none.  I just wanted my kids, I wanted my husband, I wanted to know that my family was safe.

I ran out to get Sidney from school, the staff thought I was nuts, but there was a rumor that another plane was missing.  I was sick thinking it was flying somewhere in Boston.  I didn’t care what the staff thought, I needed my kids with me, I needed to know that they were safe.

The rest of the day, I sat, with the kids, in awe, watching tv.   When Scott came home from his training I finally felt safe.  My family was together, and in our own little world, we were safe.

I will never forget the emotion I felt that day, the worry and pain I felt and still feel for all the families directly affected by the events that happened that day.

So today, September 11, 2008, I remember!

Happy Labor Day

September 2, 2008

Today was the Labor Day Parade, it was alot of fun.  It was great to set up seats right in front of the studio and watch the whole thing.  Usually we are fighting for a seat, but not today!  lol

I have tons and tons of pictures, but just had to share these two quickly.  I fell in love with these two images the minute I took them
